BAMAKO – The vice-president of the transition team in Mali, in charge of security and defense issues, Colonel Assimi Goïta, the main author of the August 18 coup, has left Bamako to temporarily settle in the Ségou region on which depends administratively Farabougou.
Faced with the blockade of the town of Farabougou imposed since the beginning of October by suspected jihadists, the Malian army is reacting firmly.
Colonel Assimi Goïta has therefore temporarily given up his cozy chair in Bamako in order to direct military operations in the Ségou region.
Although the surrounding villages are still controlled by the armed attackers, he organized the round of helicopters, which enabled Malian soldiers to gain a foothold in the village of Farabougou.
What’s going to happen?
“Colonel Assimi Goïta is still here in the region of Ségou and for many more days” said a close friend of the main perpetrator of the August 18 coup.
Information reaching newsmen indicate that the priority of the Malian army is to show the population of Farabougou that it has consolidated its position on the ground and will not abandon it. Source: Africa6News
