Netflix has started a campaign to get Chadwick Boseman, who died in August, an Oscar nomination in the best actor category, the streaming platform confirms in conversation with Variety.

According to Netflix, Boseman, who is best known to the general public for his role as Black Panther in the Marvel movie of the same name, earns an Oscar for his role in the film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which will be released on the streaming service in December.

It is the last film in which the actor can be seen.

Boseman (43) died on August 28 of this year from the effects of colon cancer.

The actor turned out to be ill for a long time, but never made it known to the outside world.

Only family and a few close friends were aware of the treatments Boseman received during filming.

Netflix is also committed to lead actress Viola Davis to ensure she is nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in the Same Movie.

Due to the corona crisis, the Oscars will take place a few months later this year: on April 25.

It is not yet clear when the nominations will be announced. Source: nunl
